Built in the Georgian style and opened in March 1999, The Bell Gallery in Berrima exhibits an eclectic mix of contemporary and early 20th Century Australian art works by prominent artists in regular exhibitions.
The owner, Meredith Stokes, feels that it is important to bring to the Highlands fine art that is not otherwise available outside major cities.
The Gallery currently represents over 25 well known contemporary artists who have exhibited widely and whose works are held in significant collections both in Australia and overseas. The artists include: - Steve Harris, Nafisa Naomi, Peter Hickey, Dianna Watson, Linda Dry Parker, Stephen Coburn, Stephen Glassborow, Adrian Lockhart and John Olsen.
Traditional artists whose work we have from time to time include Charles Blackman, E. Phillip Fox, Roland Wakelin , Septimus Power , Brett Whitely and many others.
The Gallery features work in a range of media from painting to drawings to photography and an additional emphasis on sculpture and works on paper.
The work ranges from the inexpensive to investment pieces.
The gallery hours are: 11am until 4pm Friday to Monday.
